It Started With a Documentary
In 2019, BeHeard Movement was not born out of a boardroom or a strategic planning session. It was born out of a camera lens pointed at the truth.
A documentary project set out to capture the stories of people experiencing homelessness in Oklahoma. What the team found was not just stories. They found neighbors. They found human beings who had been overlooked, underserved, and left outside the reach of traditional support systems.
They could have made the film and moved on. Instead they built something.
Oklahoma’s Only Fully Mobile Drop-In Center
BeHeard Movement is now the only fully mobile drop-in center of its kind in the state of Oklahoma.
What that means in practice is extraordinary. A shower trailer. A laundry trailer. A clothing trailer. A barbershop bus. And beyond the physical services, food, hygiene supplies, phone charging, case management connections, and a job program built specifically to remove the barriers that keep people from accessing employment.
Transportation. Limited service hours. No permanent address. BeHeard removes those barriers by eliminating the most fundamental one of all. They come to you.
In just five years, BeHeard has delivered over 20,000 showers and tens of thousands of essential services to individuals and families experiencing homelessness and extreme poverty across Tulsa and Oklahoma City.
